Often referred to as ‘the forgotten nutrient’, silicon plays a vital role in plant strength and health. HortiSil provides a fast and efficient way to the deliver the ideal quantity of silicon, together with potassium, to growing plants of all kinds.
Found naturally in the earth as silicon dioxide and various silicates, silicon enters the plant and accumulates around the epidermis of roots and shoots where it forms a silica gel that, in combination with calcium and pectins, helps to strengthen and stabilise cells walls. It also helps improve the utilisation of other nutrients in the plant.
Where silicon is not available naturally, HortiSil is the ideal replacement. Its application provides a host of benefits:

Application Rate
Trickle irrigation / fertigation
Fertigation or hydroponic gift of silicon at 50ppm to 200ppm of SiO2 is effective.
For application through Dosatron or similar, add 2 to 3 litres of HortiSil to water to make 100 litres of stock. Dilute this stock at 1:200 to produce 20 000 litres of fertigation solution. Apply this to 1ha. Repeat at 2 to 3 week intervals.
Field sprayer
Apply in 300 to 600 litres of water as below
For most crops apply 2 to 5 litres/ha depending on crop size. Small canopy salad crops require the lower application rate and larger tree crops need the higher rate.
